The International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026 aims to raise awareness of the role of women in agrifood systems and the challenges they face. This presentation will discuss advances in understanding the empowerment of women farmers and addressing their needs. This year’s Indigenous Peoples’ Day examines how Native mascots, logos, and stereotypical imagery perpetuate colonial narratives and cause harm. Through programs and dialogue, we will challenge notions of “honor,” center Indigenous voices, and explore how self-representation can affirm the diversity, humanity, sovereignty, and contemporary presence of Indigenous peoples.
