Python 1: Getting Started with Python workshop

The use of questions in our teaching is the most often used active learning strategy. Questions serve to motivate students, to assess students’ understanding, and to engage them in a thought-provoking discussion. Join this session to learn effective questioning skills and how to avoid common pitfalls.

This workshop will cover the basics on gathering data using Qualtrics.

Faculty Panel Presentation (Zoom): A panel of Special Education faculty offer an in-depth look at their experiences with a variety of grading practices. Come and learn how to teach our students how to be more efficient and effective learners.

The SAS program is a syntax-driven statistical and data management program used in many different professional and academic disciplines. It has a reputation for being difficult to learn at first, so let us help you get ahead of the curve with this introductory course.

Come to this workshop to begin the process of identifying your teaching philosophy, deciding which parts of it belong in your statement, and avoiding common mistakes.

A syllabus is more than a contract or a schedule and listing of topics. What is the message and first impression? Take a moment to think about your syllabus: is it welcoming, supportive, fair? This is a great opportunity to think about how/if your syllabus promotes a learning-centered environment.

The emphasis will be on moving from principles to practice in practical, tangible ways: by designing learning activities and assessments that meet students’ diverse learning strategies, by presenting course content in ways that support students’ different learning styles and abilities, and by providing greater latitude in the way students demonstrate their knowledge.

This course will show you how to run the most common bivariate statistical analyses in SAS.

R I: Getting Started with R workshop

CITL's Master Course in Online Teaching (MCOT) is a deep dive into online teaching strategies. We will explore the following topics: • Designing Your Online Course • Developing Your Learning Community • Adapting Best Teaching Practices to Your Online Course • Motivating Your Students to Excel MCOT on Canvas is a synchronous cohort experience.

As students demand more choices in how and where they attend class, faculty need to develop a toolkit of resources that can effectively support engagement in-person and online. In this fast-paced interactive session, we will sample a variety of free or low-cost digital tools that support active classroom learning in four key areas. Laptop required.

R is statistical software that is licensed as an open source program under GNU license. In other words, it is free. As statistical software, it can be used for data manipulation, calculation, inference, and graphical display. It contains advanced statistical procedures often not yet available in other statistical software and is available on a variety of platforms.
