Explore the leadership skills necessary for success as a supervisor and gain real insight into your own leadership style. Discover effective techniques for influencing coworkers at different levels. Laptop/smart phone needed.

This program is for new and recent supervisors. It offers an opportunity to develop self-awareness of management styles and personal biases, to practice strategies for resolving conflict, and to build confidence in leading others through feedback and coaching techniques. Applications are required by October 27 and attendance costs $250 per participant.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Symposium (Illinois System): Bite-Sized Wellbeing During Uncertain Times
Dr. Bryan Sexton will demonstrate the mechanisms at work that cause burnout and look at how evidence-based interventions counteract those mechanisms to result in wellbeing improvements. Explore fresh ideas and generate innovative strategies to address the growing need for effective and available mental health services.

Through this training, participants will understand the basic tenets of discrimination and harassment laws and policies. They will gain an understanding of Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act, Title IX of the Education Amendments, and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act, including new updates in the law.

Learn how microaggressions are everyday slights, rudeness, or insults that communicate subtle (and not so subtle) messages of bias and disrespect. This workshop includes an insightful discussion on microaggressions and their relationship to climate, cooperation and belonging. In addition, participants will practice strategies for responding to microaggressions at work.

The trainers from F&S will be holding their popular fire extinguisher training for the entire campus. If you'd like to attend this training, please register in advance as space is limited. The training will include hands-on practice with fire extinguishers and a fire simulator.

Learn about the Performance Partnership Program (PPP), a comprehensive performance management system. The PPP provides a process for resolving employee performance, attendance, and conduct problems. It governs performance management for the majority of civil service employees on the Urbana-Champaign campus.
