Description:
You’ve been asked to create a video for your unit or department... but you’re doing it alone with little to no video experience. Where do you even start?

In this session, Virgil Ward, Assistant Director of Multimedia Marketing and Communications in the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, shares a simple, practical system for planning, shooting, and editing content as a one-person team. Designed for beginners, you’ll walk away with clear, repeatable steps and the confidence to start creating immediately.

Bio:
Virgil Ward is a multimedia storyteller specializing in creating high-quality video content as a one-person production team. Before transitioning into visual media, he was a singer-songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee—an experience that continues to shape his approach to storytelling, pacing, and emotion.

Since picking up a camera, Virgil has produced a wide range of content including music videos, short films, documentaries, interviews, and campaign media, handling every aspect of production from concept to final edit.

At the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, he has held roles across multiple disciplines, including financial aid, web content strategy in the College of ACES, and videography in the Grainger College of Engineering.

He currently serves as Assistant Director of Multimedia Marketing and Communications in the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, where he produces cinematic, story-driven content that highlights the work of physician-innovator students and faculty.
