On September 30th, at the Political Science Department's Politics Workshop, Margaret (Molly) Roberts from UCSD will present "Strengthening Propaganda and the Limits of Media Commercialization in China: Evidence from Millions of Newspaper Articles." Molly holds a Chancellor’s Associates Endowed Chair in the Department of Political Science and in the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute at the University of California, San Diego. She is also the co-director of the China Data Lab at the 21st Century China Center, as well as a member of the Omni-Methods Group. Her research interests span political methodology, political communication, and comparative politics, with a focus on automated content analysis and the politics of censorship and propaganda in China. Molly received the 2021 Emerging Scholar Award from the Society for Political Methodology and was recently awarded the 2022 Max Planck-Humboldt Research Award.
