Writers Workshop General Events

The goal of this week-long write-a-thon is to help graduate students lay the foundation for a more positive and productive relationship to writing. During the week, you’ll benefit by establishing a regular and sustainable writing habit, setting and reflecting on writing goals, and making progress toward those goals.

Each day, we will begin by setting a writing goal, which you will share with the group. You'll then have time to work independently on your writing. We'll conclude each morning by reflecting on and celebrating the work that was accomplished.

Participants will have the option of continuing to write in the afternoon (there will be no moderator after noon). You will also receive resources about common concerns that arise during long-term writing projects, such as maintaining momentum, asking for and using feedback, and finding work-life balance.

This event will be in-person at Siebel Center for Design, Room 1002. Online option is available by request. It is open to current University of Illinois affiliates (students, faculty, and staff). Please register with your University of Illinois email account in advance.
