User Experience Designers are one of the hottest properties in the industry right now. Skills are in high demand with both startups and corporates on the lookout for skilled UX professionals.

Despite popular myths, you can become a UX designer without a college degree or diploma in this field. Whether you’re entering the workforce or looking for a career switch, becoming a UX designer is definitely within your grasp—as long as you’re willing to put in the hard work. This event is where we will reveal everything you need to know about what it takes to get your foot in the door and how to get hired as a UX designer.

Come along and hear from our experts who live and breath user experience design. They will be sharing the lowdowns on their decisions to step into the world of UX design, how they used their new skills to transition their career or level-up in their current role, the opportunities and hiring process for UX designers and much more!

Takeaways

In this session, we will cover:

  • The current landscape of user experience design and available opportunities

  • Possible career paths and roles in UX design

  • Skills required to land a job in UX design

  • Misconceptions about UX designers

  • Useful resources and materials for aspiring UX designers

About the Instructor

Zunaidi (Zoey) Photo

AVP, Experience Design, OCBC Group

Hi, I'm Zunaidi, or call me 'Zoey'. Hailing from Kuala Lumpur, my work involves humanising experiences through UX design, user research and design thinking.

I started my career as a client servicing intern at JWT Kuala Lumpur (a branding agency) where we launched creative campaigns through print media, tv commercials, etc.

I got into UX by chance, because my mentor took a chance and shipped me over to Singapore. My journey then spanned across designing a digital bank for the underserved millions across the sprawling archipelago, to developing a nationwide volunteer platform. The combined 8 years in agency and consulting have truly been enriching. I’m excited to expand my journey in-house in 2022 by joining the awesome team at OCBC Group.

Aside from work, I provide design mentorship on ADP List, take care of my many plant babies, deliver food to homebound elderlies on the weekends and spend time at the gym!

I think people are best experienced in person. Ask me anything over kopi c kosong or any beverage of choice.
