Playful by Design is a community network that includes students, faculty, and members of the Champaign-Urbana community who study, design, and play games. This fall, the PbD symposium will return in person - following COVID safe protocols - to present a three-day event filled with workshops, speakers, and game play. Kicking off on October 14 at 3:30 pm at the Siebel Center for Design and running through Sunday, October 16th.
The Playful by Design Symposium is back and will take place in-person at the Siebel Center for Design on October 14-16. Be part of a growing community on campus exploring game design, research, technologies, and the impact of games on teaching and learning.
Thursday kicks off at 3pm with a reception, dancing, drawing, and a Seriously Fun Design Challenge. Keynote Speaker Jeremy Bernstein, a lead narrative designer at Volition, will discuss his experiences gained from over 15 years in game design. Friday begins at 10am with a series of lightning talk roundtable presentations on virtual reality, game design, serious games & simulations, playful classrooms and more.
