This prestigious leadership program is highly respected within the University of Illinois system. The program involves a selection process and application fee of $1,000. Applications are open from September 29 through October 29, 2025 for the Spring 2026 program.

Explore the leadership skills necessary for success as a supervisor and gain real insight into your own leadership style. Discover effective techniques for influencing coworkers at different levels. Laptop/smart phone needed.

This program is for new and recent supervisors. It offers an opportunity to develop self-awareness of management styles and personal biases, to practice strategies for resolving conflict, and to build confidence in leading others through feedback and coaching techniques. Applications are required by October 27 and attendance costs $250 per participant.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Symposium (Illinois System): Bite-Sized Wellbeing During Uncertain Times
Dr. Bryan Sexton will demonstrate the mechanisms at work that cause burnout and look at how evidence-based interventions counteract those mechanisms to result in wellbeing improvements. Explore fresh ideas and generate innovative strategies to address the growing need for effective and available mental health services.

This seminar offers practical guidance and foundational knowledge for campus professionals who work with international students. Topics will include common challenges international students face—such as immigration regulations, academic expectations, language barriers, cultural adjustment, and emotional well-being—as well as the campus and community resources available.

Through this training, participants will understand the basic tenets of discrimination and harassment laws and policies. They will gain an understanding of Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act, Title IX of the Education Amendments, and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act, including new updates in the law.

Learn how microaggressions are everyday slights, rudeness, or insults that communicate subtle (and not so subtle) messages of bias and disrespect. This workshop includes an insightful discussion on microaggressions and their relationship to climate, cooperation and belonging. In addition, participants will practice strategies for responding to microaggressions at work.

The trainers from F&S will be holding their popular fire extinguisher training for the entire campus. If you'd like to attend this training, please register in advance as space is limited. The training will include hands-on practice with fire extinguishers and a fire simulator.

This New Employee Orientation (NEO) will be held in Microsoft Teams. This optional training is highly recommended for recent new hires. At this online training session, we will discuss the structure of the university and Student Affairs, the leadership of Illini Union, important workplace rules, payroll and benefits, training and development and staying safe.
