The Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning is dedicated to promoting, enhancing, and assessing teaching effectiveness and student learning. We assist faculty, academic units, and teaching assistants in improving instruction. In addition to the events listed below, we are always available for individual consultations or special activities within a department or college. Most of the workshops count toward CITL certificate program continuing education credit. Please check back often to see what events have been added. Backward design is an approach to teaching that begins with the desired results and then develops the curriculum around those desired results. Join us to learn why backward design is the right approach for your course.

Learning objectives are brief statements about what students should be able to do as a result of your course. By the end of this workshop, you will be able to write learning objectives in a useful form, use Bloom’s Taxonomy to make sure your objectives are at the appropriate level, and evaluate your learning objectives.

We are excited at the opportunity to work with our visitors in our spaces again. In anticipation we have developed a set of protocols to make sure that everyone can use the spaces and technologies safely. This event will include a presentation on the new protocols along with a discussion on keeping spaces safe and best practices.

Once you've figured out what you want students to learn in your course, you need to consider how you'll tell if students are meeting these goals. This can get more complicated in online courses. In this session, we'll explore the kinds of assessments you can use, what purposes they serve, and what kinds of things can be assessed online.
