Illinois Orientation for New Employees (I-ONE) is open to both new staff and existing staff of the University. Academic Professional and Civil Service staff will become familiar with the history, culture, mission, and future direction of the University.

This hands-on beginners’ workshop will introduce the participants to text generating AIs. We will explore their features and capabilities and apply them in streamlining teaching tasks and research. Other concepts will include: privacy/security, legal and ethical considerations of AI, and generative AI’s place in higher education. Official Illinois tools will be featured.

The Business Process Improvement Office will host Process Mapping Skills training from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at 50 Gerty Drive in Champaign. Training will include learning about the different types of process maps, tools used to process map and how to create a process map. Register online using the link by June 2.

This training will cover various event safety protocols, risk assessment and risk management, conflict de-escalation techniques, campus facility use policies and additional resources to help navigate hosting events from the facility manager perspective.

Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) is required training for many roles at Illini Union, including Building Service Workers, Building Service Supervisors, Building Operating Engineers and Building Supervisors. The initial BBP certification training should be completed within 10 days of joining Illini Union. This live training session will be held in Microsoft Teams.

Train your own large language model (LLM), deploy it as a Teaching Assistant and link it with Canvas courses. Set it up as a trustworthy tutor. Have it assist you with literature review. This hands-on beginners’ workshop will walk participants through the creation process for a custom LLM.

From FY 2026, certain supervisors who report to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) will be developing 1 or 2 of the ACUI’s Core Competencies. This initiative will involve the use of certain ACUI rubrics for performance evaluations as well as new training. This program is for new and recent supervisors. It offers an opportunity to develop self-awareness of management styles and personal biases, to practice strategies for resolving conflict, and to build confidence in leading others through feedback and coaching techniques. Advanced registration is required by June 23 and attendance costs $250 per participant.

The Threat Evaluation and Reporting Overview is an introductory training intended for the public and community members who help identify threats or observable behaviors that may concern others. TERO emphasizes the importance of community involvement and raises awareness about the behavioral approach to violence prevention.
