This talk discusses recent developments in modeling the joint dynamics of information propagation and belief evolution in a world marked by democratized broadcast and information overload. Implications of new models are discussed, demonstrating how they explain the growth of polarization and the increased susceptibility to disinformation.

To paint a (limited) picture of the landscape, this talk examines some of the main challenges that computer architects are facing today and what are possible avenues of growth.
Registration is now open for the UIUC Astronomy Department’s Girls’ Astronomy Summer Camp! This two-day camp for rising 10th and 11th graders focuses on hands-on astronomy projects, including working with real astronomy data and a tour of UIUC’s historic observatory. Registration is free, and the camp runs from June 21-22 from 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM.

The basic convolution neural network for digit recognition using Tensorflow will be demonstrated, and its performance explored. What defines deep learning in practice and running deep networks on Expanse using Tensorboard, notebooks, and batch jobs will be discussed.
