Enhanced Proton Therapy Using Real-Time Dose and Range Monitoring: Ion therapy offers superior dose conformality, increased biological effectiveness, and improved sparing of healthy tissues compared to traditional X-ray therapy. However, its widespread adoption faces challenges. This talk explores innovative solutions for range verification and adaptive treatment.

Although its usefulness as such a metric is debatable, the notion of accuracy itself still organizes much of the thinking about AI. In an analysis of FORDISC, a database of skull measurements used to identify human remains, Iris Clever demonstrates how a focus on accuracy might struggle to account for the entwined relationship between humanity, science, and technology.

David Zhang has worked with a group of researchers at Illinois tech for the past three years, where he conducted research on quasi-Monte Carlo methods, a field of numerical integration, and contributed to the implementation of QMCPy, the largest python library for quasi-Monte Carlo. This talk will be a synopsis of David’s recent work.
