In 2017 the Slavic Reference Service (SRS) at the University of Illinois organized, "Searching for Putin: An Exploration of Sources and Perspectives," a panel discussion that brought together political scientists, historians, and literary scholars to discuss the larger-than-life persona of President Putin and the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Since 2017, this conflict has evolved into a protracted frozen one that continues to cause enormous damage to anyone consumed by it. The prospect of a peaceful settlement remains elusive to all.

With the mobilization of Russian troops near the Ukrainian border and the international reactions to it, the world is once again witnessing a dangerous escalation of this conflict, going beyond the borders of Ukraine and Russia.

Join us on Thursday, February 3 at 2 pm CST to hear panelists share their perspectives on this conflict.  Due to time constraints, we are unable to provide comprehensive coverage of all perspectives. The SRS will highlight academic sources to follow this evolving crisis.
