In the dynamic environment of University Housing, the ability to engage in open, respectful dialogue is essential to creating communities where every voice feels heard and valued. This 90-minute interactive session introduces Crucial Conversations tools and techniques that support equity, inclusion, and psychological safety across teams and residential spaces.
Participants will learn to recognize and practice strategies that encourage open dialogue, apply communication tools with an equity lens to address sensitive or high-stakes topics, and use language that fosters trust, accountability and belonging.
Through practice, reflection and discussion, participants will leave equipped to navigate difficult conversations with empathy, confidence and purpose-strengthening relationships with colleagues, student staff and residents alike.To attend, please register by January 5 for the January 15 2.00 - 3.30 pm in-person session. Early registration is advised. Illini Union staff are welcome to attend and are asked to confirm their availability with their supervisors if necessary.
