We’re delighted to announce that the legal experts at OAE will hold a workshop at Illini Union from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm on September 13. Nizam Arain, Associate Vice Chancellor, Access & Equity and Claire Sharples Brooks, Director of EEO will hold this workshop in person and in Teams.
Nizam and Claire will elaborate on the workplace accommodation process, including how and when workplace accommodation can be requested by employees who might have temporary or permanent disabilities that could impact their work. They will also discuss the requirements that supervisors will need to address when presented with accommodation requests by their employees.
In addition, Nizam and Claire will discuss the legal requirements faced by supervisors in both identifying and remedying any instances of discrimination or harassment at work, and also explain the process by which employees can report any problems in the most suitable manner.
While this event is open to all Illini Union staff attendees are asked to obtain any supervisor permission needed in advance.
