Recently, our teaching environment has shifted from somewhat “routine and predictable” to more like a stream at flood stage. Sometimes it feels like we’re just trying to ‘keep everything afloat’ in the stream of information, new technology, and shifting classroom environments (in-person or virtual). We are constantly adapting our teaching, trying to stake some ground, hold fast, like an island in the flow, resisting the tumbling waters. At the same time, we’re trying to be an island for our students where they can catch their breath, through guidance and structure, and grow their knowledge and skills.

We’ll explore and share ideas for:

Adapting your course to engage students in a variety of settings
Incorporating supportive and restorative activities for students
Investing in yourself – consistently be your best self
