The exhibition highlights the linguistic, cultural, and intellectual diversity of Middle Eastern collections at the University of Illinois. It features materials in Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Turkish, Amazigh (Tamazight), English, French, Spanish, and German that reflect the region’s plural societies and minority communities within the Middle East and across its diasporas. The collection spans academic scholarship, literature, and popular culture, presented in print, digital formats, and rare books. These resources are distributed across multiple campus libraries, demonstrating both depth and breadth. Together, they challenge simplified narratives of the Middle East and foreground a range of voices, identities, and historical experiences across borders and diasporas.
