Physics - Careers Seminar

Abstract: I was never especially interested in having a career. In this talk, I will give a brief accounting of my resulting path, and some of the principles that have guided my decision-making at key points, emphasizing both the advantages and the weaknesses of my approach.

Bio: Dr. William Morong is a postdoctoral associate at the University of Maryland and Joint Quantum Institute, where he works in the trapped-ion quantum information group of Prof. Christopher Monroe. Prior to this, he completed his PhD studying the dynamics of ultracold atoms in optical lattices at the University of Illinois with Prof. Brian DeMarco. Starting in Fall 2022, he will be moving to a permanent position in the quantum technology space.
