Beyond Grad School: Connecting Academics to Success in Industry (Not Your Normal Lecture!)

Abstract: Semiconductor process development is a unique and challenging industry.  The cadence and stresses/strains on new-hires as well as seasoned employees can be challenging.  In this semi-formal presentation, we will go through some of the basics of semiconductor development cycles (pathfinding groups all the way through high-volume manufacturing), explain the different roles and contributions of individuals and organizations, and show how all that gets rolled into creating a new and innovative product.  Tips and tricks on staying technical and fostering a “can do” approach to problem solving as well as how to succeed and grow in a large technical organization will be shared.

Bio: NPRE Alumni Wayne Lytle (BS ‘05, MS ’07, PhD ’11) joined INTEL corporation over 10 years ago and has worked on the latest technology development in the Portland Technology Development (PTD) group ever since.  From Advanced Packaging to Logic Etch, Wayne has held a multitude of positions from Senior Process Engineer to PTD Group Leader.  Wayne is currently an Independent Contributor tasked with development of some of INTEL’s most challenging plasma dry etches to enable the ever challenging semiconductor product development cycles.
