A proud alumnus of the University of Illinois, 1960 Army ROTC graduate and Veteran of the US Army and Illinois Army National Guard, Mr. Skinner's contributions to our nation's governance are truly exceptional. Notably, his impressive journey includes serving as the U.S. Secretary of Transportation and White House Chief of Staff during President George H.W. Bush's administration. What sets Mr. Skinner apart is his multifaceted experience, which includes working closely with the United States Coast Guard during his tenure as the U.S. Secretary of Transportation. His collaboration with the Coast Guard underscores his dedication to enhancing transportation safety and security, showcasing his commitment to safeguarding our nation's interests on multiple fronts.
