Dance Music Therapy and the Urbana Park District bring you DMT summer in the park with six monthly events (weather permitting). DMT’s mission is to help bring together a diverse community of people, in a safe/inclusive space, and to promote healing through music while breaking down barriers relative to race, gender, sexual orientation, and religion. Basically it is a space to be who you are, dance, build community, laugh, eat, and just enjoy the summer in a safe space. DMT is comprised of three DJs – Terrance, TDM, and KamauMau who will be playing music to make you dance and leave your problems behind. You will definitely hear some house music as well soul classics, hip hop, world music, Afrobeat, funk, and jazz.
This event is free and open to the public. There is a snack bar, provided by the Park District, but feel free to bring a tent or blanket with your own grill, drink, or snacks.
