A Small but Meaningful Mindset for Improving Your Teaching
Amy Lynette ClayWhat small but meaningful practices can you adopt to improve teaching and learning in your courses? Amy will share how she adopted a small but meaningful approach to improve courses in her program while balancing other professional responsibilities.
When you are balancing teaching, research, and administrative or service expectations, it can seem nearly impossible to carve out the time to improve course content and teaching practices. For many, overhauling an existing course is not necessary and is not feasible due to time constraints and competing professional expectations. Instead, you can make significant improvements to student learning outcomes and your teaching effectiveness through manageable adjustments like creating reusable rubrics, incorporating self-assessment, engaging meaningfully with feedback, and choosing to supplement rather than to replace existing materials. Small but meaningful changes can improve the experiences for students and instructors alike.
