The New Student Employee Orientation (NSEO) in Microsoft Teams: the topics covered will include an introduction to Illini Union, important policies, GREAT customer service, training & development and staying safe.

The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.

This program is for new and recent supervisors. It offers an opportunity to develop self-awareness of management styles and personal biases, to practice strategies for resolving conflict, and to build confidence in leading others through feedback and coaching techniques. Applications must be submitted for consideration by June 23. Attendance costs $250 per participant.

The Racial Justice Allies and Advocates Training program is designed to provide staff with a core awareness of race and racism in deeper ways, promote racial justice, and dismantle systems of oppression through an interactive and peer-facilitated workshop.

An intensive training program designed to provide university employees with the opportunity to acquire and strengthen cultural competencies, awareness, and skills. A $400 fee applies and space is available on a first come, first served basis. Please obtain supervisor approval if necessary and register in advance.

Live Training Session in Microsoft Teams for Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) initial certification.

This live orientation in Teams is for new full-time employees at Illini Union. The topics will include the structure of the university and Student Affairs, the leadership of Illini Union, workplace rules at Illini Union and the university, payroll and benefits, training and development and staying safe.

Open enrollment in employee benefits for the next financial year will end on June 2. Don't miss this opportunity to learn about the benefit choices that will go into effect in July 2025.

Practical insights for experienced, new and aspiring managers: Leadership skills necessary for success as a supervisor and effective techniques for influencing coworkers. This workshop will be hands-on and participants will interact with one another as they gain actionable insights about their leadership styles and effective techniques for influencing coworkers.

This program is for new and recent supervisors. Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) is required training for many roles at Illini Union, including Building Service Workers, Building Service Supervisors, Building Operating Engineers and Building Supervisors. The initial BBP certification training should be completed within 10 days of joining Illini Union. This live training session will be held in Microsoft Teams.

The Kick-off event will include a Gen AI showcase featuring brief demos of several AI tools, and launch us into the "Summer of AI" filled with workshops, lectures, and panel discussions about the many aspects of this new and revolutionary technology. This New Employee Orientation (NEO) will be held in Microsoft Teams. This optional training is highly recommended for recent new hires. At this online training session, we will discuss the structure of the university and Student Affairs, the leadership of Illini Union, important workplace rules, payroll and benefits, training and development and staying safe.

From FY 2026, certain supervisors who report to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) will be developing 1 or 2 of the ACUI’s Core Competencies.
