  • Illinois Orientation for New Employees

    Illinois Orientation for New Employees is a dynamic program that introduces new staff to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. New staff will become familiar with the history, culture, mission, and future direction of the university.

  • Visio Org Chart training

    Creating, storing, and updating organizational charts can be a time-consuming task. Using software that is designed for visualizing information aids the process. Visio can even generate a diagram that adds the shapes and connectors for you from data that is stored in an Excel workbook. In this workshop attendees will create simple org charts, and pull from excel.

  • OneNote in MS Teams Training

    Join us in an instructor-led session using OneNote where we will discuss the structure of notebooks and how OneNote notebooks work within MS Teams. Prereq: understand Teams and MS OneNote. Pre-registration required; no walk-ins please.

  • HR Series: Recruitment and Hiring Part I

    Learn about campus administration and the government regulations that guide our processes; the search process key roles; developing the job description and planning for good faith recruitment efforts; an overview of the vacancy submission, requisition, and posting process; best practices for evaluation and selection; reference check guidelines; and steps to make a hire.

  • HR Series: Collective Bargaining and Grievance Processes

    Provides an overview of collective bargaining and grievance processes for union and non-union employees: the history of collective bargaining, laws related to collective bargaining, the bargaining process, grievance processes for union and non-union Civil Service employees and Academic Professionals, bargaining units at UIUC & how to respond to a variety of labor issues.

  • Photoshop Layers training

    In this two-hour live Photoshop session, we will cover working with layers and learn to edit in a non-destructive way. Participants can choose in-person or online.  

  • Illustrator Getting Started training

    In this two-hour Illustrator session, we will go over recommended resources and tutorials, then participants will be introduced to the user interface while creating a vector graphic logo.

  • Illustrator Transform Graphics training

    In this 2-hour workshop, participants will learn the basics of using the drawing tools in Adobe Illustrator CC, including how to use the Pencil and Curvature tools, how to edit paths. Then we will look at layers, including how to create, edit, and organize content. We will also learn the basics of transforming and editing artwork in Illustrator. Pre-registration required.

  • HR Series: Fostering a Culture of Respect III: Creating an Inclusive Work Environment

    A diverse workforce brings varied perspectives and understandings. At times, diversity can present challenges in creating an inclusive environment. Seminar empowers the participants to connect and understand the importance of being culturally competent and see how through inclusivity their work environments will blossom as we maintain a community of respect and civility.

  • Zoom Advanced Features

    Join us in a one-hour online session to explore some advanced features of Zoom. Features covered will include breakout rooms, setting a virtual background, recording, and more. Link sent if registered by 8 am.

  • HR Series: Employee Assistance III: Substance Abuse in the Workplace

    Substance Abuse in the Workplace educates supervisors on how to address an impaired employee and the impact these individuals have in the workplace. Campus policies and procedures presented by IHR and guidance on how to consult with FSAWS are included in the training. This seminar is for Deans, Directors, Department Heads, administrators, managers, supervisors & foremen.

  • InDesign: Getting Started training

    In this 2-hour instructor led InDesign workshop, participants will learn how to create and open InDesign documents, navigate the user interface, modify a document, import graphics, and manipulate basic text and text frames and create a postcard in the process. No prior knowledge of InDesign is required. Pre-registration is required.

  • HR Series: The Family Medical Leave Act

    The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) entitles eligible employees to take job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons. This seminar, facilitated by HR experts, will focus on policy and helpful tips to support managers in administering FMLA for their campus units.

  • Illinois IT JumpStart (New Hire Technology Orientation Training)

    This program provides new employees at the Urbana campus of the University of Illinois an overview of IT services that are critical to success on campus. Attendees can register for one, two, or more of the scheduled sessions. Offered at no cost to faculty/staff/students of the University of Illinois. New and current employees are invited to attend.

  • Photoshop Image Adjustments training

    In this 2-hour course, we will spend time adjusting images in Photoshop, using Adjustment Layers, and explore several kinds of image adjustments. We will also explore image editing in a non-destructive manner.  

  • HR Series: Recruitment and Hiring Part II

    Discover what the Civil Transfer list is and how it can be used in the hiring process; become aware of what’s required for employee promotions and other types of position changes; learn about the review and approval of salaries; and understand why pay equity is important and how it is evaluated.

  • Outlook 365 Calendar training

    This 2-hour Outlook Calendar workshop, participants will learn to schedule & edit appointments; work with calendar labels and tasks displayed on the Calendar. We will schedule with the Scheduling Assistant, practice scheduling a conference room, and discuss scheduling Online Meetings, and discuss calendar permissions.

  • Scheduling Online Meetings via Outlook training

    We have many options for scheduling online meetings these days. We will use Outlook for a central place to keep track of several kinds of online meetings and to make sure we have reminders. We will look at recommendations for scheduling with Zoom and Teams. We will go over helpful tips for each platform, including scheduling as a delegate. Prereq: Outlook Calendar workshop

  • Adobe Express Basics training

    In this 2-hour instructor-led workshop, participants will learn how to use Adobe Express (Adobe's online design tool) to create social media posts, customize photos, create a flyer and use the new Generative AI tools. No prior knowledge of Adobe Express is required. Pre-registration required.

  • OneNote Basics Training

    Learn how to create and edit OneNote notebooks, search and export notes. We will explore the use and management of sections and pages including section groups and subpages. We will enter data into OneNote from a variety of sources, from existing documents to webpages. We will discuss merits of embedding spreadsheets or linking.
