How do we manage the amount of content that we should teach while providing opportunities for our students to be actively engaged?

The use of questions in our teaching is the most often used active learning strategy. Questions serve to motivate students, to assess students’ understanding, and to engage them in a thought-provoking discussion. Join this session to learn effective questioning skills and how to avoid common pitfalls.

Barbara Oakley says that “students fool themselves into thinking they’re learning.” Students may believe that they “know” the content and that they can easily retrieve what they learned; however when it comes down to doing assignments or exams, they are often unsuccessful. Come and learn how to teach our students how to be more efficient and effective learners.
