Qualitative data analysis software programs can be valuable tools for organizing research sources for a literature review. This workshop will demonstrate techniques for organizing and analyzing literature in the software program MAXQDA, though the strategies will be relevant to other qualitative data analysis tools like NVivo or Atlas.ti.

MAXQDA is a robust software for analyzing qualitative data, including text, media, and survey data. The software is free for all University of Illinois users via a license provided by Illinois Computes

This workshop assumes basic knowledge of MAXQDA including importing data files, creating codes, and applying codes to text data. If you are new to MAXQDA, you may want to view the Introduction to MAXQDA materials before this workshop

By the end of this workshop, we hope you'll be able to:
 1) Export citation data from Zotero and import into MAXQDA
 2) Use MAXQDA organizational features to categorize research sources
 3) Use coding tools label relevant parts of research literature
 4) Analyze coded data to develop your literature review

See slides and a recording of a previous version of this workshop.

See directions for installing MAXQDA and using the Illinois license.

Request a version of this workshop for your research team or class by contacting Jess Hagman (jhagman@illinois.edu).

This workshop will be held in Library 314 and will not be recorded. An online version of the workshop will be held on Thursday, March 26 and will be recorded for later viewing on the Qualitative Data Analysis research guide.

THIS SESSION WILL BE TAUGHT IN-PERSON (314 MAIN LIBRARY)
