Egalitarian Workplaces: Organizational Patterns of Gender Wage Inequality in High Income Countries
Scholars of gender wage inequality have long shown that workplaces play a significant role in shaping the gender gap, but we know little about what kind of workplaces treat women and men equally and how many workplaces are gender-egalitarian. In this talk, I will share findings from my international collaborative research that compares the distribution of gender-(in)egalitarian workplaces across 12 high-income countries and investigates whether and how workplaces change to pay women and men more equally. Based on this research, I will discuss possible paths toward egalitarian workplaces.
