Supporting International Scholars Workshop

With over 2,000 international scholars from more than 90 countries, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is one of the most globally diverse campuses in the country. Faculty and staff play a crucial role in helping international students succeed- but navigating that role can be complex.

This session offers practical guidance and foundational knowledge for campus professionals who work with international scholars. Topics will include common challenges international scholars face- such as immigration regulations, research or employee expectations, language barriers, cultural adjustment, and emotional well-being- as well as the campus and community resources available to support them. Attendees will also gain clarity on their own role in helping scholars navigate these challenges with empathy and confidence.

Faculty, staff, department contacts, and others in scholar-facing roles who want to better understand and support international students- all are welcome to attend.
