Understanding cultural difference requires more than awareness—it requires empathy and perspective-taking. In this session, participants will explore how people from different cultural backgrounds make meaning in distinct ways. Through case studies and guided dialogue, students will practice listening for understanding, identifying cultural logics behind unfamiliar behaviors, and engaging with difference without immediate judgment. This session focuses on increasing awareness of others’ ways of making meaning.
The training will be held in person on Tuesday, March 10, from 12:30 - 1:50 p.m. CST in the Campus Instructional Facility (CIF) (1405 W Springfield Ave, Urbana, IL 61801); Room 2018.
Registration is required, so secure your spot now! Open to all students.
