Learn from a social service professional about how grassroots organizations have developed to support the unique challenges faced by Asian Americans. Through discussions on identity and stories from the community, you will gain a deeper understanding of how social services work to empower immigrants, barriers to accessing care, and opportunities for you to become an advocate in your own community.
Felicia Jia works at KAN-WIN, a non-profit agency that serves Asian immigrant and Asian American survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. As the Supporter Relations & Marketing Lead, Felicia coordinates fundraising and donor cultivation strategies to engage supporters, community, and corporate partners. She also manages organization-wide communications and storytelling to promote KAN-WIN's mission, programming, and impact to the broader community. Felicia graduated from UofI in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in global studies.
Food for Thought, a Lunch-on-Us series, is a weekly noontime discussion focused on topics relevant to the Asian American community. Past discussions include topics such as nutrition, mental health, sexual health, and media representation of Asian Americans.
