Join us for an IN PERSON info session to learn more about the spring 2026 First-Gen Study Abroad Program: ACES 298 Bridging Sustainable and Personal Development Goals in Panama!
**Pizza will be provided while supplies last!**
This program is a collaboration between the Jeffries Center, Scholar Support Programs, Illinois Abroad and Global Exchange (IAGE), the College of Education, and the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Science (ACES).
Embark on an educational journey to Panama, where you’ll immerse yourself in sustainable development practices, engage with local communities, and discover what it means to be an ethical traveler. The corresponding course will prepare you for travel, introduce you to the complex reality of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and help you take what you learn in Panama to contribute to your own community and further your career goals. This program combines academic rigor, cultural exchange, and hands-on experiences to empower students as global, sustainability-minded professionals.
Students must be first-generation college students (i.e. Neither of your parents have obtained a four-year US college degree. You're still considered first-gen if one or more of your siblings or extended family members have obtained bachelor's degrees) and must have received an invitation from the Jeffries Center (formerly OMSA) or Scholar Support Programs to apply.
