How do Black creatives and professionals navigate life and work in East Asia? In the next event in the Diaspora Talks series, we will discuss how Black cultural expression travels across borders, adapts to new contexts, and reshapes conversations around race, belonging, and identity in global diasporic communities. Join us for this compelling talk with Dr. Karen Flynn, Terrance & Karyn Holm Endowed Professor in the Department of Population Health Nursing Science at the University of Illinois Chicago, College of Nursing and director of the Midwest Nursing History Research Center, as she explores the migration experiences of Black Canadians and Americans in East Asia, highlighting the intersections of identity, mobility, and cultural exchange.

This event will delve into themes of cultural exchange, mobility, and the ways in which Black creatives navigate new spaces while influencing and being influenced by local cultures. A Q&A session will follow the talk. Light hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be provided. You can RSVP now at this link here: https://go.illinois.edu/DiasporaTalksSeries
