The LAS Global Leaders Program (GLP), in commemoration of MLK day, invites you to “Life on Purpose: Standing Up for Environmental Justice,” hosted at the Siebel Center for Design on Tuesday, January 24th in rooms 1000 and 1002 at 7 pm. GLP is a four-year, cohort-based initiative that equips students to develop social innovations for global challenges using Human-Centered Design. The keynote speaker for the event is Sakshi Vaya, a student at U of I and founder of Jeevatva – an organization focused on composting and recycling waste in Northern India. Following her talk, participants will reflect on the impact of Dr. Martin Luther King in small groups and dialogue about how to personally and collectively take a greater stand in their communities around environmental justice concerns. Finally, participants will be able to artistically reflect on what they discussed using recyclable canvas paintings.
