With a background in biochemistry, she earned her PhD in Nutritional Sciences and completed her Registered Dietitian (RDN) training at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Throughout her PhD and postdoctoral research, she focused on the role of fermented foods in supporting both human and companion animal health. Dr. Metras is passionate about translating microbiome and nutrition science into meaningful health outcomes.
