The Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning is dedicated to promoting, enhancing, and assessing teaching effectiveness and student learning. We assist faculty, academic units, and teaching assistants in improving instruction. In addition to the events listed below, we are always available for individual consultations or special activities within a department or college. Most of the workshops count toward CITL certificate program continuing education credit. Please check back often to see what events have been added. Developing skills and knowledge that can be used to succeed at real-world tasks is a strong source of motivation for many students. Authentic assessments conceptually mimic these tasks and are a more valid means of measuring learning objectives compared to conventional means of assessment. Please join us as we investigate using authentic assessment effectively in our courses.

Teaching Excellence - Topics addressed in this workshop relate to the following elements of the Definition of Teaching Excellence at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign: 

  • Well-designed
  • Well-delivered

This workshop counts towards the requirements of the Graduate Teacher Certificateor the Certificate in Foundations of Teaching.
