The time students spend learning outside the classroom – on homework, reading, problem sets, studying, and more – can be chances for students to encounter something new, solidify understandings, explore connections, or delve into an area of interest. In this session, we will address ways to plan assignments and course materials that support your learning objectives when students engage with the material outside of class. The workshop will include approaches and resources to design homework and study tools that promote meaningful and active learning experiences for your students.
This workshop is part of the What You Need to Know: Essentials of Course Design summer series. You may sign up for any or all of the workshops in the series using the registration form. If you register, you'll eventually be added to a Canvas course to help follow along with the series.
This workshop counts towards the Graduate Teacher Certificate or the Certificate in Foundations of Teaching.
