Title: "Modeling brain networks with BMTK/SONATA and visualizing them with VND,"
Speakers: Anton Arkhipov Ph.D., Xiao-Ping Liu Ph.D.,Kael Dai, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Seattle, Washington. Barry Isralewitz Ph.D., Research Programmer, Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.
This seminar will introduce the software tools from UIUC and Allen Institute, supporting large-scale bio-realistic modeling of neurons and neuronal networks. Brain Modeling ToolKit (BMTK) is a package used to model and simulate complex network of neurons, whereas SONATA file format supports efficient storage of models and simulations as well as their exchange and reproducibility. A powerful visualization tool VND (Visual Neuronal Dynamics) helps users to examine models in 3D and interact with simulation results.
