Course Description: To enlighten students, talk about the black experience, educate about black opera history, and the struggles that continue today in the art form. Lecture & questions on the experience of being a black singer in a majority white art form. Will focus on the history of black opera singers: Leontyne Price, Sissieretta Jones, Marian Anderson, Paul Robeson, and my inspiration, Kathleen Battle.
