Physics - The Anthony J Leggett Institute for Condensed Matter Theory Seminar

Abstract: Motivated by recent observations of fractional Chern insulators (FCIs) in the vicinity of superconducting (SC) phases, in this talk, I will discuss fractional quantum (anomalous) Hall-superconductor heterostructures in the presence of order-parameter fluctuations and particularly focus on the case of quantum Hall states leading to Z3 parafermions. Using combined analytical and numerical methods, I will discuss a rich phase diagram hosting several gapless phases and exotic phase transitions, such as the Z3 critical point separating a Mott insulator from a phase with quasi-long-range U(1) order.
