Abstract: The Stern sequence, as defined by Stern in the 1850s, is defined by s(0) = 0, s(1) = 1, s(2n) = s(n), s(2n+1) = s(n) + s(n+1). In 2010, Melisa Dennison defined a sequence similar to the Stern Sequence called the Bow Sequence. In this talk, we will explore a few of the properties of the Bow sequence as they are related to properties of the Stern sequence. We will also look at some newly defined sequences of polynomials with a similar recurrence relation called the Bow Polynomials and explore some of the properties of these polynomials.
