Spurlock Museum - Event

On December 12, from 1:00-3:30 pm, the Spurlock Museum and UIUC Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies will present Wrap It Up in Stories, a free, family-friendly program. The program focuses on two activities. In the Collaboration and Community Gallery, participants will have the opportunity to practice a variety of gift-wrapping styles, including furoshiki, a traditional Japanese method of wrapping gifts in colorful cloth.  At 2 pm, a Japanese/English bilingual storytelling session will be presented by Prof. Misumi Sadler, Sarah Herendeen, and Kyoko Sawada in the Ancient Mediterranean Gallery.

Wrap It Up in Stories is the fifth offering in the series of Spurlock Sunday programs for fall 2021. These programs are offered on the second Sunday of the month from 1:00-3:30 pm and are open to visitors of all ages. Spurlock Sunday activities can include crafts, performances, and hands-on experiences with cultural artifacts. This December program is held in collaboration with the Spurlock’s work on updating its East Asian exhibit.
