On Oct. 28 at 7pm, join a virtual screening of and discussion about the film, 'Sonita.' After her family attempts to sell her into marriage, a young Afghan refugee in Iran channels her frustrations and seizes her destiny through rap music. Grabbing the mic, she spits fiery rhymes in the face of oppressive traditions.

The film series Living Music features documentaries of daily life in the Middle East region, with a focus on the lives of musicians and the impact of music on society. Through the films and post-screening discussions, attendees will learn about the cultures represented in the films.
