The s-Catalan numbers are a generalization of the well-known Catalan numbers that were recently introduced after they appeared in certain quantum physics problems. We give a combinatorial description of the s-Catalan numbers in terms of Littlewood-Richardson coefficients and explain some of the properties they exhibit in terms of Littlewood-Richardson polynomials.
