Title: Can you hear the shape of a drum?
Abstract: In 1966, Kac made an interesting question, “If you can perfectly hear the overtones of a drum, can you figure out the shape of the drum?”. This question essentially asks if it is possible for any two domains which are not equal in Euclidean geometry can be isospectral. The motivation of problem arises from radiation theory. In this talk, I will talk about the article Kac wrote about the physical and mathematical intuition behind this problem. I will also share some of the improvements made since the article was written.
