This session, Finding a Compromise – A Brief Introduction to One Welfare, explores the interconnectedness of animal welfare, human well-being, and the environment—and how improving one component can strengthen the others.
🔹 Dr. Mark Flint
A veterinarian, researcher, and U.S. Army veteran, Dr. Flint specializes in assessing environmental stressors through diagnostic medicine, welfare, and biosciences. He is an American Veterinary Medical Association Board-Certified Specialist in Animal Welfare, a practicing clinical veterinarian, and a research scientist with a PhD in conservation medicine. With his diverse experience, Dr. Flint emphasizes teamwork as a powerful strategy for advancing the common good.
🔹 Dr. Jaylene Flint
A wildlife biologist, epidemiologist, and conservation scientist, Dr. Flint brings nearly 20 years of expertise in zoo and wildlife conservation and ecosystem health. With a background in marine biology and a PhD in epidemiology, her work spans threatened species conservation, education, and research. She focuses on how these fields can intersect to improve ecosystem health and reduce negative environmental impacts.
