The Capstone is the culmination of every Sustainable Design major’s degree, and a demonstration of how students learn to apply creativity, systems thinking, and sustainability to solve real-world challenges.
Guided by faculty, students leverage knowledge gained throughout their college career to design solutions to the critical sustainability concerns they are most passionate about. Their projects began in the fall of 2025 as they learned a variety of design and research methods to address the problem of their choice. In the spring semester, they transformed that research into action by planning and prototyping resilient products, buildings, cities, landscapes, and communities.
With a shared commitment to cultivating a better future, the diversity of Capstone projects reflects the truly individualized, interdisciplinary paths each student follows.
