My work focuses on translating long-term ecological research into actionable conservation strategies. Over the past 20 years in the Portland region, I have led demographic and occupancy-based studies of freshwater turtles to inform site-level management and regional conservation prioritization. This work is paired with community-centered outreach and education, including hands-on field experiences that connect people directly to wetland ecosystems. I also collaborate with universities and schools to identify and address key research gaps, advancing both scientific understanding and applied conservation outcomes.
