Center for the Study of Global Gender Equity

Dr. Maria Hadjipolycarpou, Teaching Assistant Professor, Department of Classics and Director of Modern Greek Studies will give lunch talk, "Class, Gender, and Secularization in Costas Montis’ Afentis Batistas and the Other Things" on Thursday, October 22nd.  She will delve into unexplored areas and performs an intersectional analysis of gender, class, and religion, challenging stereotypical ideologies around these issues. Her article situates the text in its historical and socio-political context, acknowledging the parallel assimilation and erasure of women and indigeneity (κυπριωτισμός) to preserve a continuous Hellenic tradition.
