Abstract: Have you ever wondered what happens after you put something in the bin? Learn about the step-by-step campus waste management & recycling process, the results from the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center’s recent waste audit, and how the university is moving toward zero waste.
Biography: Daphne Hulse is an alum of Purdue University, with a background in Environmental Science. During her undergraduate studies she wrote as an environmental journalist at Western Washington University, founded and led a student organization advocating for a national carbon fee and dividend policy, and co-facilitated a climate science and sustainability course through the non-profit Climatepedia. In 2022, she joined the University of Illinois as its first full-time zero waste coordinator. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and volunteering as a Master Gardener through the Illinois Extension.
